Pearl Shelley Faw

Mrs. Pearl Shelley Faw, age 90, of Horse Cave, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 31, 2023.  Pearl was born on January 20, 1933, a daughter of the late M.L. Shelley and Mary Elizabeth Osborne Shelley, in the Woodstock Community of Pulaski County, Kentucky. She grew up in the Good Hope Community along with her five brothers and attended school until the ninth grade. 

As a young woman, she married Ervan Faw, of Eubank, Kentucky on June 15, 1955. Together they built and operated several businesses both in Michigan and Cave City, Kentucky.  They shared a life of love and happiness until his passing in 1995.  
Pearl was an active member of Cave City Baptist Church, which she joined in 1969 after moving to the area.  For many years she taught a young girl’s Sunday School class.  In her spare time, she enjoyed the Cave City B & PW Club.  As a widow, she enjoyed a few adventures on cruise ships with her close friends Willodean Ray and Zell Hunt.  They also enjoyed the Caveland Jazzy Girls, their Redhat Club. As well as trips to Gatlinburg for Gospel singing conventions.  Her hobbies included quilting and crossword puzzles.  

Pearl leaves to honor her memory, her three daughters: Cheryl Davis and husband Chuck, Debbie Thomason, both of Cave City, and Lori Wilson and husband Chad of Horse Cave.  She leaves behind six grandchildren: Erin & Nathan Dobbs of Augusta, Kansas, Shelley & Bill Lowe of Bowling Green, Andrew Davis of Hartford, Beth & Nathan Glodjo of Bowling Green, Matt & Kara Forbes of Horse Cave, Jordon & Kris Upchurch of Horse Cave.  Twelve great-grandchildren; Keira and Elsa Dobbs, Davis Lowe, Michael and Myles Davis, Natalie and Haley Glodjo, Brynlea Forbes, Bailey Hensley, Remington, Jayma and August Upchurch, along with two sisters in law, Barbara Shelley, Frances Faw and several nieces and nephews also survive. 

In addition to her parents, and husband of forty years, she was preceded in death by her brothers; James, Ernest, Harvey, Harlan and George Shelley, two half-brothers, and a half-sister, along with her son in law, Chuck Thomason.  

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2023, from Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow in Cave City Cemetery.  Bro. Ryan Broers will officiate the services. 

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 5, 2023, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.
