Genie B. Hogan

Mr. Genie B. Hogan, age 99, of Cave City, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. Genie was born September 14, 1924, a son of the late William Luther and Ethel (Gerald) Hogan. He attended and graduated from Cave City High School, Class of 1944. He married Marilyn Reynolds Hogan on September 3, 1948, she preceded him in death on February 9, 2023. He proudly served his county in the United Staes Navy having served in World War II. He worked for L&N Railroad until he retired in 1979.  He was a member of Horse Cave Church of Christ.

He is survived by his son, Greg Hogan of Cave City, his daughter Cindy Binkley and her husband Ron of Fairbanks, Alaska; five grandchildren; Tiffany Walter and husband Rob, Rachel Rice and husband Casey, Randy Binkley and wife Judy, Katja Meyer and husband Pat, and Cyndel Binkley and husband Marcelo. Three great-grandchildren; Jackson Rice, Dorian Hendrix, and Dylan Walter. One sister, Willie Mae Miller of Saratoga Springs, New York; two brothers; Arthur Hogan of California and Rondal Hogan and wife Zona of Anchorage, Alaska, along with a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife of seventy-three years, Marylin Hogan, three brothers; Jesse Hogan, James “Hogie” Hogan, and Turner Hogan, and three sisters; Joan Toohey, Joy Taylor, and Doris Blankenship.

Funeral Services for Mr. Genie will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Monday September 25, 2023, from the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel in Cave City, with interment to follow at Cave City Cemetery Military Honors will be provided by DAV Chapter 20. Bro. Wayne Hatcher will officiate the services.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home, and again on Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 12:00 p.m.
